The Windward Islands and scheduled trade services.

Cargo Overseas Limited have for many years supported trade in the Windward Islands with regular consignments by Air. St.Lucia, St.Vincent and Dominica being islands which regularly receive vital machine and chemical products from the U.K. In line with this service, we have developed an ocean FCL and LCL service to expand on this support and now look to offer a comprehensive multi-modal service into the Windward and Leeward Islands. With representation throughout the islands who regularly travel between the UK and the islands we are able to maximise our presence and negotiate rates based on our specialist knowledge of the area.

Based on Geest's direct container lines service into the Caribbean we can offer the fastest transit times possible by sea to complement our existing and long-standing direct British Midland service operating twice a week. Working closely with our suppliers on these routes we are able to promote trade between the Europe and the Caribbean and provide specialist advice on documentation and transport procedures. Other services are available primarily transitting through the U.S. which although cheaper impacts severely on the transit time and increased handling requiring movement from ship to ship in an American port.

Our representatives on the Islands allow us to promote their export trade, especially foodstuffs which is the major trading commodity from the islands. Bananas, Coconut oil and various vegetables are the regular mainstay of Island trade and specialist vessels and vessel loading facilities are available. Each ship can handle lifts up to 40 tonnes using its own craneage and easy access to stowage space below decks means that high and wide loads can be carried under deck. Containers can also be stowed above and below deck with a high number of reefer points allowing the shipment of perishable goods. Our close partnership with British Midland allow us to offer direct flights back to the U.K. carrying perishable foodstuffs which are required to meet strict wholesale and supermarket supply chain deadlines. With these flights operating back into Manchester as well as London we can offer urgent and reliable movements into both the North and South of the U.K. with the minimum of fuss.
